About Jewel Sud
Jewel knows first-hand the impact on children struggling with academic challenges and learning differences. Having dyslexia and learning differences as a child, Jewel utilized available resources and worked hard to overcome her challenges, which led her to make it her calling in life to help other students realize their limitless potential.
After graduating Summa Cum Laude with a BBA in Finance and Real Estate from American University in Washington, DC, Jewel worked in the finance departments of Alice + Olivia and Theory in New York.
Having a strong desire to make a difference in people’s lives, Jewel went back to school and earned her Montessori International Diploma from the Montessori Institute of San Diego and her Masters of Education from Loyola University of Maryland. Jewel is also Orton-Gillingham trained.
Over the last ten years, Jewel has worked with elementary, middle, and high school students, including students with learning differences. Based on her own experience and education, Jewel determines the most effective way for each student to learn and employs effective strategies to help ensure success.
"I enthusiastically recommend Jewel as I saw, and continue to see, the impact of Jewel’s influence on my daughter, even some three years after they worked together when Jewel served as an academic coach to my daughter. I felt fortunate to discover Jewel in her capacity as a tutor and my daughters academic performance increased beyond my wildest imagination. During her junior year of high school, Jewel and my daughter worked together for an hour, every Sunday-Thursday. She went from being a B/C student to earning mostly A’s throughout her junior year. The organizational skills Jewel was able to teach were key. She taught her study skills that benefit her today in college. Jewel continues to serve as a mentor to my daughter and she often calls Jewel for advice, about both education and life in general. Jewel continues to serve as one of the most important people and influences in my daughters life."
